Suggestions are Being Filtered into the Subconscious Mind

I think we should make it clear that whether we call it autosuggestion, positive thinking, meditation, yoga, affirmations or self-hypnosis, we are, in reality, talking about the same thing. All require certain basic prerequisites before they will work effectively for the individual.

What should be remembered is that the suggestions are being filtered into the subconscious mind which does not question, doubt, analyze or dispute the efficacy of these beneficial thoughts. You can be sure that the constant repetition will have its effect. Hasn’t the mind, in the past, accepted the individual’s diagnosis when he said, “I’m sick,” “I have an inferiority complex,” “I can’t stop smoking,” “I can’t lose weight,” “I can’t concentrate,” “I can remember a person’s face, but I can’t remember names,” “I have a difficult time falling asleep,” “I just can’t seem to relax.” Isn’t such an individual, in effect, usingself-hypnosis? And hasn’t the person convinced himself of the validity of his present state? This is truly dangerous. It is negative hypnosis.

The question that I raise is: “Why shouldn’t the subconscious mind be even more convinced and respond strongly to suggestions which are in conformity with the natural desire to be of sound body and mind?” I have never been able to find a logical answer.

I think this is what happens many times. A person seeks help with a problem which, in reality, has nothing to do with hypnosis. His cure is not contingent on being hypnotized or on suggestions he or the hypnotist feel are indicated. You will read in nearly every book and article dealing with hypnosis that “hypnotism is not a cure-all.” No one has suggested or implied that it should be used exclusively for allemotional problems. You may read a newspaper article warning about the “dangers” of hypnosis. It may tell of a person who rid himself of one symptom and developed another in its place. You usually get a grossly distorted picture of what happened, with many aspects of the case not included. It’s a matter of taking what you want to prove out of context. Propagandists use this technique all the time to get across their message. It’s the old story of telling a half truth.

Why Do People Seek Hypnosis Treatments?

Learning self hypnosis allows you to call upon your skills whenever you feel you need them – and instantly achieve the pace of mind or comfort that you need without turning to food, cigarettes, or in a worst-case scenario – suicidal thoughts!

Using hypnosis, either as a self-performed type of therapy or through the use of a professional who is skilled in this area, can help you alter your subconscious mind so that you reroute your usual way of thinking.

If you’re normally depressed and hopeless about life, hypnosis will redirect your thinking patterns so that you gain a sense of self and look for the positive throughout your day.

Hypnosis can help a smoker begin to abhor the smell and taste of cigarettes, so that they’re not a welcomed stress-reliever anymore.  The same method works on people addicted to sweets, or those who bite their nails.

People suffering from OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) find hypnosis a huge relief in their lives.  Instead of enduring their erratic behavior, they gain a sense of calm and peace that hypnosis provides whenever they begin feeling out of control.

Sometimes fear is what’s gripping a person and not allowing them to live their lives to the fullest.  Fear of flying, fear of heights – even fear of being out in public – can be crippling and curtail the activities you’re able to perform that appear so normal to the rest of society.

Hypnosis can help remove those irrational fears and replace them with common sense feelings so that you don’t have to pass up a lot of what life has to offer.  Anxiety and panic attacks will be a thing of the past because your mind is reset to think differently about those fears.

By seeking hypnosis as their treatment of choice, men and women are finding they’re able to completely rid themselves of certain problems – or at the very least, bring them to a manageable level that doesn’t interfere with their daily activities.

People seek hypnosis treatments for a variety of reasons, often related to improving mental health, modifying behaviors, and enhancing overall well-being. Here are some common reasons why individuals might turn to hypnosis:

  1. Stress and Anxiety Reduction: Hypnosis is known for its ability to induce deep relaxation, making it a valuable tool for managing stress and anxiety. It helps in calming the mind and can teach individuals how to relax their bodies, which can alleviate symptoms of anxiety.
  2. Pain Management: Hypnosis has been used effectively in managing chronic pain, post-surgical pain, and pain during childbirth. It can alter the way the brain perceives pain signals, thus providing relief.
  3. Habit Change: Many people use hypnosis to help break habits such as smoking, nail-biting, or unhealthy eating patterns. Hypnosis can reinforce positive behaviors and diminish the urge to engage in the negative habit.
  4. Weight Loss: Hypnosis can be an adjunct to traditional weight loss methods, helping to modify attitudes towards food and eating, and reinforcing healthier lifestyle choices.
  5. Improving Sleep: Hypnosis can be beneficial for those suffering from insomnia or disrupted sleep patterns. It promotes relaxation and can help in establishing better sleep habits.
  6. Overcoming Phobias: Hypnosis is often sought to help in overcoming phobias, such as fear of flying, heights, or spiders. It works by desensitizing the individual to the fear stimulus and modifying the emotional response associated with it.
  7. Enhancing Performance: Athletes, public speakers, and performers may use hypnosis to improve focus, concentration, and confidence, enhancing their performance in sports, stage performances, or public speaking.
  8. Emotional Healing: Hypnosis can be used to explore and resolve deep-seated emotional issues, traumas, or past experiences that might be affecting a person’s current mental health.
  9. Self-Improvement: Many seek hypnosis for self-improvement purposes, such as boosting self-esteem, developing positive thinking, or enhancing personal skills and abilities.
  10. Coping with Life Transitions: Hypnosis can be helpful for those going through significant life changes, such as divorce, bereavement, or career transitions, providing emotional support and coping mechanisms.

It’s important to note that while hypnosis can be effective for these purposes, it is not a magic cure-all. The success of hypnosis depends on the individual’s responsiveness to hypnotic suggestions and their willingness to engage in the process. Additionally, hypnosis should be conducted by a qualified professional, and in some cases, it should be used as a complement to other forms of therapy or medical treatment, rather than as a standalone solution.
