How Does Self-Hypnosis Work?

December 12, 2009 by editor Leave a Comment

There’s an old Chinese proverb that states: “One picture is worth a thousand words.” In conveying suggestions to the subconscious, we have found that picture images are more effective than the words that are implanted. For example, it isn’t sufficient to say, “I will be confident.” The words must be augmented by a picture of yourself as the confident person you want to be. If you say, “I can’t visualize myself as a confident person because I have never been that way,” you can “borrow” those personality traits that you want for yourself. Imagine yourself endowed with the characteristics of some confident person that you know. The qualities that you seek may even be borrowed from a famous person. If this isn’t possible, make up a personality which is a composite of all the things you want to be. See yourself walking, talking and carrying on activities. Keep fortifying this image with the mental suggestions that are needed. It won’t be long before these mental impressions give rise to the confident feelings that you seek. As you keep implanting these images, they will become a natural part of your conscious personality.

Dr. S. J. Van Pelt, president of the British Society of Medical Hypnotists and editor of the _British Journal of Medical Hypnotism_, writes about this technique in his book, _Secrets of Hypnotism_. He calls it “‘3-D’ Technique in Medical Hypnotherapy.” As you read the following paragraph, it would be well to remember that it contains the essence of making the self-hypnosis technique work once you have achieved the hypnotic state, per se. Incidentally, the same procedure can be used in attaining the hypnotic state itself. You see yourself entering the state of hypnosis in your initial attempts. This, in turn, sets up a conditioned response and a favorable emotional reaction which is necessary.

How to Control the Subconscious Mind

Mind control is a powerful tool. There are various ways through which a person’s mind can be controlled. One such way is to control mind through music. Mind control music is used at many places like shopping stores for keeping their employees focused and also for not letting them steal. Stealing things in a shopping centre is very common. Most of the times people who work there are found culprits. For reducing the frequency of such incidents mind control music is played in almost all the shopping centers and stores. The results that came out when store owners actually tried such mind control music in their stores they found that now such incidents actually decreased.

The major characteristic feature of mind control music is that this music has a very low sound, it’s very soothing and only your subconscious mind can listen to it only. Wherever such music is played it is not noticed most of the time but our subconscious mind do listen to it. In such mind control music there is always a message that is repeated again and again but in a very low pitch and this is why only our subconscious mind notices it. Considering such mind control music is used for reducing shoplifting activities, the caretaker is constantly reminded through this music that you do not have to steal anything.

It also reminds you that your work here is to take care of the things in the shop and not steal it. Mind control has always been a very controversial topic. A lot has been discussed on whether mind control and mind control music should be used on people. The end result of mind control is very effective. Mind control therapies that are implemented using music always give a result which was desired. It may or may not be beneficial for one person and vice versa.

Self Hypnosis Induction

November 28, 2009 by editor Leave a Comment

There are various ways through which a person can reach to a deeper trance of hypnotism. Induction is a method which induces hypnosis into a person and allows him to go deep inside his subconscious mind. For attempting self hypnotism you need to understand ways through which you can induce hypnotism. Self hypnotizing can become easier if you are aware of methods of hypnotism induction like deep breathing, fractional relaxation and many others. For getting into the initial stages of hypnotism you need to first calm yourself and stop worrying about other things in life. For this these induction techniques might prove great help.

For beginning self hypnotism you need to first take up a position or stance in which you most comfortable. Self hypnotizing in a comfortable position makes things easy. Now you have to start deep breathing for relaxing yourself and also for removing all the extra unwanted vibrations from your body. Fractional relaxation is the next method on our list which means you have individually relaxes all the parts of your body. This will help you move a bit deep into the hypnotic trance.  Relation and calming the body are two most important things what must be done before self hypnotizing.

After fractional relaxation you may start concentrating on a particular thing in your surrounding. It may be a sound or a touch or may be any sort of feeling. Try to feel it with complete concentration. This way you can move on for self hypnosis induction. Initially you may find it very difficult to concentrate but gradually you will find it easy. The more you attempt it the more you learn and benefit. Once you feel that you are focused then you must start giving directions to your mind. Bring in changes that you want and order your subconscious mind to accept them.

How Hypnosis Affects Your Subconscious Mind

November 16, 2009 by editor Leave a Comment

Following the reasoning that the subconscious mind can be affected, you can see that a problem could present itself even though the subject consciously wishes to be hypnotized. Unconsciously, there may be a poor interrelationship with the hypnotist which can create an unfavorable climate for hypnosis. When this is the case, the subject doesn’t respond until such time that he relates well to the hypnotist. Even the most calculated procedures will fail until a positive transference relationship is established. I am sure that you sometimes have said, “For some reason I don’t like that person.” If pressed for an answer, you’ll usually reply, “I can’t explain it, but I just have a feeling about him.” Actually, your subconscious reactions are influencing your thinking and you “feel” a certain way. The same thing takes place in business transactions.

You either like or dislike the proposition presented to you. You may say, “I have a certain feeling about this deal.” You may not be conscious of the reasons, but your subconscious has reacted automatically because of previous experience along similar lines.

In giving you some insight into the hypnotic procedure, I am trying to point out certain problems in regard to achieving self-hypnosis. For the most part, it is not a simple procedure that is accomplished immediately. You can’t just will it. It requires working toward a specific goal and following definite procedures which eventually lead to success.
